Do you like drinking tea? Which kinds of teas have you tried? Many people drink tea for various reasons. Some drink tea for general health while others drink tea when they aren’t feeling well. Of course, many drink tea simply because it tastes delicious or because they find it comforting on a cold rainy day.
How to brew a cup of fresh herb tea
Teas such as flower teas should always be made fresh and drank in one sitting. Use china or glass cups and teapots rather than metal ones and allow around 200 ml of water for a single serving of herbs. After bringing the water to a boil, measure about 1 teaspoon of the tea leaves/herbs for each cup. Next, put the tea leaves/herb into the cup/teapot and pour the boiled water over it. If you like, you may place the tea leaves/herbs in a clean teabag before pouring the water.
After that, you just need to cover the cup/teapot and leave it for around 5-10 minutes to brew. You can even add a little honey to sweeten the tea or a pinch of salt. You can also drink it hot or add ice cubes for a cool drink.
Drinking teas for the best results
When making organic herbal teas, make sure that the herbs used are fresh, and that it is drank immediately rather than stored for a few days. It is best to use good quality dried herbs that have not gone past the set ‘best before’ date.
In terms of when it’s best to take teas, between meals would be good, or before bedtime. Herb teas can be taken 3 times a day. Through the regular drinking, you can improve your body’s lymphatic systems and this would further help in the detoxification process.
What you can do with used tea leaves
At times, you may feel it a waste to just throw the tea leaves after brewing them only once or twice. Here are a few things you could do with the tea bags:
- Take the tea bag out, allow them to cool, and place them over your closed eyelids. By relaxing for about 5-10 minutes in this way, you could freshen up tired eyes.
- Used herbal tea leaves can also make for great compost for house plants. Just remember not to let the herb leaves touch the plant, but rather, spread them around it.
- After washing and drying the tea leaves, you could mix them with essential oils and place in a small dish. This could function as an air freshener for your room.
